Sample Collection
Inform your physician about all medications you are currently taking, especially ACE inhibitors, ARBs, diuretics, beta-blockers, NSAIDs, or corticosteroids. Your doctor may advise temporarily discontinuing certain medications before the test. Maintain a controlled sodium diet as instructed. A duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory. No routine fasting is required unless specifically advised by your physician.

Laboratory Analysis
A trained phlebotomist will collect approximately 2 mL of blood from a vein in your arm using a standard venipuncture technique. The blood is transferred into a Lavender Top (EDTA) tube. The patient's posture (supine or upright) at the time of collection should be documented, as it directly affects results.
Report Delivery
Apply gentle pressure to the puncture site with cotton or a bandage for a few minutes. Mild bruising at the site is normal and typically resolves on its own. Resume normal activities unless advised otherwise. The sample will be shipped refrigerated or frozen to the reference laboratory for analysis.

How to Prepare

Understanding Your Results
High levels may indicate renovascular hypertension, renal artery stenosis, heart failure, cirrhosis with ascites, volume depletion, or a low-sodium diet. Elevated Angiotensin II stimulates aldosterone release, causing sodium retention and potassium loss.
Low levels may suggest primary aldosteronism (Conn's syndrome) where autonomous aldosterone production suppresses renin and angiotensin II, or may result from high-sodium diet, use of ACE inhibitors or ARBs, or certain rare genetic conditions affecting RAAS components.
Results within the reference range suggest normal RAAS function. However, clinical correlation is necessary as some conditions may present with normal Angiotensin II in the context of other abnormal findings.
