Sample Collection
Patient should avoid eating predatory fish such as swordfish, tuna, and shark for at least 3 days prior to specimen collection. If Gadolinium or Iodine-containing contrast media has been administered, specimen collection should be postponed for at least 96 hours. Use powderless gloves during specimen collection. Ensure an acid-washed, metal-free container kit is obtained from the laboratory prior to starting the collection.

Laboratory Analysis
Begin the 24-hour urine collection by discarding the first morning urine specimen on Day 1. Collect all subsequent urine voids in the provided metal-free container over the next 24 hours, including the first morning void on Day 2. Keep the container refrigerated or on ice throughout the collection period. Measure and record the total 24-hour urine volume on the vial and test request form. Mix the collected urine thoroughly, transfer a 10 mL aliquot to the vial provided in the kit, and seal properly.
Report Delivery
After completing the 24-hour collection and transferring the aliquot, ensure the sample is stored refrigerated or frozen. The specimen should reach the laboratory promptly. How to Prepare
