How to Prepare
- Use a 24-hour urine container provided by the laboratory containing 25 mL of 50% concentrated HCl.
- Discard the first morning urine at the start of collection and note the time.
- Collect all subsequent urine for the next 24 hours, including the first morning urine at the end of the collection.
- Keep the urine refrigerated during the entire collection period.
- Mix well before aliquoting a 10 mL sample.
- Record body weight and total 24-hour urine volume on the container and test request form.
- Ship refrigerated or frozen as instructed.
- Avoid vitamin C and citrus fruits for 48 hours prior to specimen collection.
