Understanding Your Results
Not Detected
No RNA from NL63, 229E, OC43, or HKU1 detected. A respiratory infection due to these coronaviruses is unlikely.
Detected (specific virus)
The presence of the corresponding coronavirus is confirmed. Clinical correlation is required to guide treatment.
Consult your physician immediately if your symptoms worsen, you have difficulty breathing, persistent high fever, or if you belong to a high-risk group such as older adults or immunocompromised individuals.
Limitations
- ⚠Test detects only the four coronavirus strains listed; other respiratory pathogens are not covered.
- ⚠A negative result does not exclude infection if sample was poorly collected.
- ⚠Positive result indicates presence of viral RNA; it may not always indicate active shedding.
Risks & Considerations
- ●Mild discomfort during swab collection
- ●Rarely, slight bleeding or gagging
- ●No serious complications
Interfering Factors
- ●Inadequate sample collection may lead to false-negative results.
- ●Transport or storage delays can degrade viral RNA.
- ●PCR inhibitors in the sample (e.g., blood, mucus) may interfere.
