"U1RNP antibodies are most meaningful when interpreted with clinical symptoms, ANA positivity, and the relevant antibody profile including anti-Smith antibodies. A positive result is a strong clue to mixed connective tissue disease when the clinical picture matches."

Understanding Your Results
U1RNP antibodies not detected. A negative result does not exclude autoimmune disease.
U1RNP antibodies detected. May support mixed connective tissue disease or SLE when combined with clinical history and other autoantibody results.
Supports diagnosis of mixed connective tissue disease if the patient has relevant clinical symptoms and typical ANA pattern.
Provides additional support for the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus.
If the test is positive or you have symptoms such as persistent fever, rash, joint pain, edema, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, consult a rheumatologist or allergy/immunology specialist for further evaluation.
Limitations
- ⚠A negative result does not exclude autoimmune disease.
- ⚠A positive U1RNP antibody alone is not diagnostic.
- ⚠Results should be interpreted along with clinical features, ANA, anti-Smith, and other autoimmune markers.
Risks & Considerations
- ●Slight pain or bruising at the venipuncture site
- ●Dizziness or lightheadedness during or after blood draw
- ●Rare risk of infection at the collection site
Interfering Factors
- ●Gross haemolysis or lipaemia may interfere with the immunoassay
- ●Sample stored beyond recommended time may affect antibody detection
- ●Recent immunosuppressive therapy may lower antibody levels and can cause false-negative results
