Method: Venipuncture

Understanding Your Results
CYP2C9 reduced-function variant detected
Reduced metabolism of the active warfarin isomer can increase drug exposure, leading to higher bleeding risk. Clinicians may consider a lower initial warfarin dose.
VKORC1 variant associated with decreased expression detected
Decreased vitamin K availability may increase warfarin sensitivity and raise INR above the therapeutic target. Dose adjustment may be required.
Both CYP2C9 and VKORC1 variants detected
The combined effect can result in markedly increased warfarin sensitivity. Individualised dosing and close INR monitoring are strongly recommended.
No clinically significant variant detected
The variants assessed by this test were not found. This does not exclude warfarin sensitivity from other genetic variants or non-genetic causes.
