Understanding Your Results
No pathogenic variant detected
No identifiable genetic cause found in the analysed genes. Non-genetic causes should be considered; continue clinical follow-up with a neurologist.
Pathogenic or likely pathogenic variant detected
A genetic cause has been identified. Clinical correlation, genetic counselling, and possible cascade testing of family members should be discussed.
Variant of uncertain significance detected
The variant cannot yet be classified as disease-causing or benign. Additional family studies or reclassification may be needed; genetic counselling is recommended.
Consult a neurologist or genetic counsellor immediately if you or a family member experiences progressive memory loss, confusion, personality changes, or difficulty performing daily activities, especially when dementia runs in the family.
Limitations
- ⚠This panel is not intended to diagnose all forms of dementia.
- ⚠A negative result does not exclude non-genetic or undetected genetic causes.
- ⚠Some genetic variants may be classified as variants of uncertain significance.
- ⚠Results should always be interpreted with clinical and family history by a qualified genetic professional.
Risks & Considerations
- ●Minor pain, bruising, or bleeding at the blood draw site
- ●Rarely infection at the collection site
- ●Emotional or psychological stress associated with genetic test results
Interfering Factors
- ●Poor DNA quality or quantity
- ●Recent allogeneic blood transfusion or bone marrow transplantation
- ●Sample contamination or mislabelling
- ●Variant of uncertain significance
- ●Genetic heterogeneity of dementia
