Sample Collection
No fasting required. Avoid urinating for at least 1 hour before urine sample collection. For swab samples, avoid using antibacterial soaps or douches 24 hours prior. Inform your healthcare provider about any antibiotics taken in the last 3 weeks.

Laboratory Analysis
For urine sample, collect first-void urine (initial stream) in a sterile container. For swabs, a healthcare professional will collect a sample from the urethra, cervix, rectum, or throat using a sterile swab. The procedure may cause mild discomfort but is generally quick.

How to Prepare
- Urine: Collect first-void urine (first 20-30 ml) in a sterile cup. Do not wipe or clean the genital area before collection.
- Urethral swab: Insert swab 2-4 cm into urethra and rotate for 10 seconds.
- Vaginal swab: Use a speculum to collect from posterior fornix or use a self-collection kit as instructed.
- Rectal swab: Insert swab 3 cm into rectum and rotate for 10 seconds.
- Pharyngeal swab: Swab the posterior pharynx and tonsils.
- All samples should be transported to the lab immediately or stored at 2-8°C for up to 24 hours.
