Sample Collection
Avoid excessive amounts of vitamin C or vitamin C rich food for at least 48 hours prior to specimen collection.
Method: Venipuncture
Laboratory Analysis
Standard venipuncture is performed. Serum must be separated within 1 hour of collection and frozen immediately.
Report Delivery
Ship frozen. DO NOT THAW. A duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory.
Timeline: Sample by 7th of the month; report after 2-3 weeks.

Who Should Get This Test
To measure serum oxalate concentration and help diagnose and monitor hyperoxaluria or kidney stone disease.
How to Prepare
- Avoid excessive amounts of vitamin C or vitamin C rich food for at least 48 hours prior to specimen collection.
- Collect 2.0 mL (1.0 mL min.) serum in 1 Red Top (No Additive) tube.
- Do not use SST gel barrier tubes.
- Separate serum within 1 hour of collection and freeze immediately.
- Ship frozen; do not thaw.
- Complete and attach Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35).
