Equivocal / Borderline
Antibody level is near the threshold. Consider repeat testing after a clinically appropriate interval.
Positive
IgM anti-phosphatidylserine antibodies are present. Correlation with clinical events and other antiphospholipid antibodies is essential.
If the result is positive or if you have symptoms such as unprovoked thrombosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, or persistent features of autoimmune disease, consult a consultant haematologist or rheumatologist.
Limitations
- ⚠This test detects only the IgM isotype; IgG and IgA isotypes are not measured
- ⚠A single positive result is not diagnostic of antiphospholipid syndrome
- ⚠Results should be interpreted with clinical criteria and other antiphospholipid antibodies such as anticardiolipin and beta-2 glycoprotein I
- ⚠Antibody levels may fluctuate over time; repeat testing may be required
