Method: Venipuncture

Negative / Below cut-off
TSI not detected. Clinical suspicion of Graves' disease should still be evaluated with thyroid function tests.
Positive / Above cut-off
TSI is detected. This supports Graves' disease and may help identify patients at risk of poor response to anti-thyroid drug therapy or fetal/neonatal hyperthyroidism.
Consult an endocrinologist if you have symptoms such as weight loss with increased appetite, palpitations, tremor, sweating, irritability, difficulty sleeping or changes in menstrual cycles, especially if a TSI test is positive.
Limitations
- ⚠A negative TSI result does not completely exclude Graves' disease.
