Overview
Vitamin K is required as a cofactor for the synthesis of Factors II, VII, IX & X and protein C & S. Deficiency leads to bleeding. Warfarin acts as an anticoagulant because it is a Vitamin K antagonist.

Sample Collection
Wrap sample in aluminium foil to protect from light. Minimum 8 hours fasting is mandatory. Avoid eating liver or taking multivitamin supplements or Vitamin K 24 hours prior to sample collection. Duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory.

How to Prepare
- Protect the sample from light by wrapping the tube in aluminium foil
- Separate plasma from cells within 3 hours of collection and freeze immediately
- Minimum 8 hours fasting is required
- Avoid liver, multivitamins, or vitamin K supplements for 24 hours before the test
- Duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory
