Sample Collection
Overnight fasting is preferred. Discontinue Heparin for 1 day and oral anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling with physician consent. A duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15) is mandatory.
Method: Venipuncture
Laboratory Analysis
Blood samples will be collected via venipuncture from a vein in your arm. Two samples are required: one in a Lavender Top (EDTA) tube and another in Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tubes, with proper mixing by inversion.

Apply pressure to the puncture site to prevent bruising. Samples will be processed and transported to the lab under specified temperature conditions.

Who Should Get This Test

How to Prepare
- Collect 3 mL whole blood in 1 Lavender Top (EDTA) tube. Ship refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE.
- Collect 6 mL whole blood in 2 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tubes. Mix thoroughly by inversion.
- Transport to Lab within 4 hours. If not possible, prepare Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP) by centrifuging at 3600 rpm for 15 min, transferring supernatant, centrifuging again, and freezing immediately. Ship frozen. DO NOT THAW.
