How to Prepare
- For nasopharyngeal swab: insert the swab into the nostril parallel to the palate, leave in place for a few seconds, then rotate and withdraw
- For sputum: collect early morning sample in a sterile container after rinsing mouth with water
- For bronchial lavage: performed by a healthcare professional during bronchoscopy
- Ensure all samples are placed in appropriate viral transport medium and transported at 2-8°C
