Method: Venipuncture
Laboratory Analysis
A phlebotomist will draw blood from a vein in your arm. A tourniquet is applied briefly. Please remain calm and inform the phlebotomist if you have a tendency to faint.
Report Delivery
Apply pressure to the puncture site for a few minutes. You can resume normal activities immediately. A small bruise or soreness is common and resolves quickly.

No infection / susceptible
No evidence of recent or past infection. The person is susceptible to infection.

Limitations
- ⚠Negative IgM does not entirely exclude recent infection if the sample is taken very early
- ⚠IgG alone cannot distinguish between past infection and current infection without IgM
- ⚠Cross-reactivity with other parvoviruses may occur
- ⚠Serology may be negative in severely immunocompromised patients despite active infection; consider PCR
