Overview
Testing for phospholipid antibodies is indicated in cases of unexplained arterial / venous thrombosis, pregnancy with unexplained fetal deaths, spontaneous abortions, presence of unexplained cutaneous circulatory disturbance like livedo reticularis and presence of systemic rheumatic disease like lupus erythematosus. This test is also used in cases of unexplained thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia & non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis.

Negative
No significant IgG or IgM phospholipid antibodies were detected. This is a normal finding.
Moderate Positive
Moderate levels of antibodies were found. This may be transient; confirmatory testing after 12 weeks is recommended.
High Positive
High levels of IgG and/or IgM antibodies were found. This supports the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome when clinical manifestations are present.

Limitations
- ⚠A positive result alone does not confirm antiphospholipid syndrome; clinical criteria must also be met.

- ⚠Antibody levels may fluctuate over time; repeat testing after 12 weeks is often required for persistent positivity.
