Understanding Your Results

The TORCH Panel IgG Extended test provides serological evidence of past exposure. A single IgG result is not enough to diagnose an active TORCH infection; clinical correlation, IgM testing, paired samples, or avidity testing may be required.
Non-reactive IgG for a pathogen indicates no detectable antibodies; the person may be susceptible and may need counselling or vaccination where applicable.
Reactive IgG indicates past infection or immunization. It does not confirm an active or acute infection.
Equivocal results should be repeated after 10-14 days or tested with IgM and additional markers.
A fourfold rise in IgG titer in paired acute and convalescent sera suggests recent infection, especially for Rubella.
In newborns, IgG can cross the placenta from the mother; serial IgG and IgM testing are needed to diagnose congenital infection.
