Understanding Your Results

Results should be interpreted by the referring obstetrician/gynaecologist in the context of gestational age, clinical history, and other prenatal investigations.
Low hemoglobin may indicate anemia requiring iron or other supplementation.
Rh-negative blood group may require further antibody screening and anti-D prophylaxis planning.
Non-reactive HBsAg, HIV, and VDRL results indicate no current laboratory evidence of these infections.
Reactive rubella IgG generally indicates immunity; non-reactive may require postpartum vaccination planning.
Abnormal urine findings such as protein, glucose, pus cells, or RBCs need further evaluation.
Elevated fasting or postprandial glucose may indicate gestational diabetes risk and should be confirmed with diagnostic testing.
⚠️ When to Consult a Doctor:

Consult your obstetrician/gynaecologist promptly if any result is abnormal, if you have symptoms such as fever, fatigue, burning urination, vaginal bleeding, or excessive thirst, or if blood glucose values are high.

Limitations

  • This is a screening panel, not a diagnostic test for all fetal anomalies.
  • Rubella IgG and serology results should be interpreted with clinical history and immunization records.
  • Glucose results are influenced by fasting status, timing, and recent meals.

Risks & Considerations

  • Mild pain or bruising at the blood collection site
  • Temporary dizziness or fainting during venipuncture
  • Rare infection at puncture site

Interfering Factors

  • Recent blood transfusion may affect blood group and serology results
  • Hemolyzed, lipemic, or clotted samples may affect CBC and glucose results
  • Incomplete or missing HIV consent form may lead to test rejection
  • Contaminated or first morning sample may affect urine routine examination
