Sample Collection
Overnight fasting is mandatory. Avoid vitamin supplements for 24 hours before sample collection. Complete and sign the Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35). Inform your doctor about any medicines or supplements you are taking.
Method: Venipuncture
Laboratory Analysis
A trained phlebotomist will collect approximately 2 mL of blood from a vein in your arm into a lavender top EDTA tube. The sample must be protected from light and processed according to the given instructions.
Report Delivery
You may resume normal activities immediately. There are no specific post-test restrictions unless advised by your doctor.

Who Should Get This Test
To measure plasma riboflavin concentration and assist in diagnosing vitamin B2 deficiency in patients with mucocutaneous lesions, anaemia, eye changes, or other symptoms suggestive of nutritional deficiency.
How to Prepare
- Overnight fasting is mandatory.
- Use a lavender top (EDTA) tube.
- Separate plasma from cells within 3 hours of collection.
- Freeze plasma immediately and ship frozen.
- Do not thaw the sample.
- Wrap the sample in aluminium foil to protect from light.
- Avoid vitamin supplements 24 hours prior to sample collection.
- Duly fill the Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35).
