Overview
The vWF:CB test is used to diagnose von Willebrand disease, a bleeding disorder. It measures the ability of von Willebrand factor to bind to collagen, which reflects the functional activity of the protein. It is a supplemental assay to factor VIII activity, vWF:Ag, and vWF:RCo assays in typing of VWD.

- Delayed shipment without freezing
Understanding Your Results
Consult a doctor if you experience easy bruising, prolonged nosebleeds, heavy menstrual bleeding, or any unexplained bleeding. A hematologist can guide you on appropriate testing and management.
Limitations
- ⚠vWF:CB alone is not sufficient to diagnose von Willebrand disease; results should be interpreted with vWF:Ag, vWF:RCo, and Factor VIII activity.
- ⚠Low results may be seen in conditions other than VWD, such as low vWF levels due to blood group O.
- ⚠Normal results do not exclude mild VWD.
Risks & Considerations
- ●Minor pain or bruising at the puncture site
- ●Uncommon: infection, excessive bleeding, or hematoma
Interfering Factors
- ●Improper sample collection or handling, including freezing and thawing
- ●Recent exercise or acute stress
- ●Pregnancy and hormonal therapy
- ●Presence of other coagulation inhibitors
