Sample Collection
Overnight fasting is preferred. Please inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, especially immunosuppressants, steroids, or drugs that may affect antibody levels. Wear clothing with loose sleeves for easy access to the arm.

A trained phlebotomist will collect a blood sample from a vein in your arm. The procedure takes a few minutes and may cause mild discomfort.

No special precautions are required. You may resume your normal diet and activities immediately after sample collection. Keep the puncture site clean and dry.

The Vasculitis Panel Test is performed to detect antibodies associated with autoimmune vasculitis. It includes ANA by IFA, ANCA-MPO by EIA, ANCA-PR3 by EIA, and Anti-dsDNA by EIA. These tests help in the diagnosis and management of primary systemic vasculitis and vasculitis secondary to connective tissue disorders.
How to Prepare
- Overnight fasting is preferred before the test.
- Sample must be collected in an SST (Serum Separator Tube).
- The sample should be shipped refrigerated or frozen for transport.
- Specimen should reach the laboratory within 6 hours at room temperature, 72 hours refrigerated, or 2 weeks frozen.
- Please provide complete clinical history and medication details when booking the test.

Understanding Your Results
ANA positive
Suggests possible autoimmune process; further evaluation with specific autoantibodies is needed.
ANCA-MPO positive
May indicate microscopic polyangiitis or eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis.
ANCA-PR3 positive
May indicate granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's granulomatosis).
Anti-dsDNA positive
Strongly associated with systemic lupus erythematosus.
All parameters negative
Reduces the likelihood of ANCA-associated vasculitis, but does not completely exclude vasculitis.
Consult a doctor if you experience symptoms such as unexplained fever, weight loss, fatigue, muscle or joint pain, skin rashes, numbness or tingling, shortness of breath, chest pain, abdominal pain, or blood in urine. Early evaluation is critical for suspected vasculitis.
Limitations
- ⚠This panel does not detect all forms of vasculitis.
- ⚠Negative results do not exclude vasculitis, especially in limited or single-organ disease.
- ⚠Positive results may occur in other autoimmune, infectious, drug-induced, or neoplastic conditions.
- ⚠Histopathological confirmation via biopsy may be required for definitive diagnosis.
- ⚠Reference ranges may vary between laboratories; results should be interpreted by a qualified clinician.

- ●Excessive bleeding or hematoma formation (uncommon)
Interfering Factors
- ●Immunosuppressive therapy (e.g., corticosteroids, rituximab) may cause false-negative ANCA results.
- ●Acute infections or inflammatory conditions may lead to false-positive ANA or ANCA results.
- ●Hemolysis, lipemia, or prolonged sample storage may affect assay accuracy.
- ●Drugs such as hydralazine, procainamide, and minocycline can induce ANCA positivity.
- ●Recent blood transfusion or vaccination may cause transient autoantibody positivity.
